5. Remember to start each new row on the next side of the basket from where you finish the previous weaver.
By the time you weave the third row of dyed reed into the basket, a chain pattern emerges.
6. Next, add three more rows of 3/8" natural flat reed, turning the basket to the next side to add each row.
7. Continue to adjust the basket to keep the corners square. Make sure the spokes are evenly spaced.
8. Once you weave the third and final row of natural flat reed, use your packing tool to pack the weavers tight toward the base of the basket to prevent gaps. Begin at the bottom row of weaving and work upward. For a tighter basket, you can let the basket dry for a few hours or overnight and then pack it. If you allow the reeds to dry completely, be sure to wet the ends of the spokes thoroughly before the next step to prevent cracking.
